TLA

Be aware that while TLAs are useful for the knowledgeable eBusiness person, they can, and often do, create a mystique around the topic to which they relate, and can make those who do not understand them feel alienated. This alienation may become a negative attitude towards the topic. TLAs must therefore be used only when the trainee is fully aware of and comfortable with their meaning.
TLA of course stands for Three Letter Acronym.

A three-letter acronym, three-letter abbreviation, or TLA is an abbreviation, specifically an acronym, alphabetism, or initialism, consisting of three letters. These are usually the initial letters of the words of the phrase abbreviated, and are written in capital letters (upper case); three-letter abbreviations such as etc. and Mrs. are not three-letter acronyms.
Most three-letter abbreviations are initialisms: all the letters are pronounced as the names of letters. Some are acronyms pronounced as a word; computed axial tomography, FAT, is File Allocation Table.
